A common misconception is that Bees (especially Honey Bees) are a protected species, they are not. Bees are fantastic for our Eco-System and are generally a friendly species, which is why we will always do our upmost to remove the nest without harm. This is not always possible depending on the situation though – when the nest is inaccessible or poses a serious risk to health.
No they are not protected – but it is generally best practise to try to remove them without causing harm.
One bee has to fly about 90,000 miles – three times around the globe – to make one pound of honey!
